Cr. Jane Prentice encourages local residents to nominate before 14 November, when nominations close.
“The Lord Mayor’s Australia Day Awards, offer the perfect opportunity, to recognise those who have made a difference in your life, or the lives of the people around you”, she said.
Nominations for the Lord Mayor’s Australia Day Awards are categorized: Citizen, Young Citizen, Community Event and Senior Citizen of the Year Award; Australia Day Sports, Cultural and Achievement Award and; Lord Mayor’s Green Heart Award.
“These awards cover a wide range of service and enable residents to recognise the efforts of hardworking citizens who are making a contribution to the local communities in Brisbane”.
The Green Heart Award debuted this year and is for an individual or group who have made a significant environmental contribution to our City.
“The Green Heart Award is for recognition of environmental practices within local communities, and is a great way to reward those who are pursuing the same environmental goals as Council”, Cr. Prentice said.
