Want to keep telemarketers away?

30 October, 2008

Tired of constant telemarketer phone calls? Under the Federal Government Do Not Call Register Act of 2006, you can avoid their inconvenient calls.

The DO NOT CALL REGISTER enables Australian citizens to list their Australian fixed line and mobile numbers on a 'do not call' list.

Telemarketers are required to check their calling lists with the DO NOT CALL REGISTER listings. If a telemarketer breaches the Do Not Call Register Act, they can face a fine of up to $1.1 million dollars.

You can register three ways: online via www.donotcall.gov.au; phoning 1300 792 958 and/or; a postal application, which can be downloaded from the previously messages website.
