31 July, 2008

The new restrictions are as follows:

  • You can now use a hand held hose with a trigger or a twist nozzle for 30 minutes once a week (Saturdays for odd numbered houses and Sundays for even numbered), to wash vehicles, clean the external surfaces of houses, buildings, materials and equipment and to water gardens
  • You may water gardens with a bucket any day between 4pm and 8am
  • You must always use a bucket for cleaning
  • Under no circumstances may a hose be used on paving, pathways or driveways

Importantly, restrictions applied to the filling or topping up of pools have remained unaltered.

Residents who fit one or more of the following criteria, will be able to use a hand held hose with a trigger or a twist nozzle for 30 mintues twice a week, instead of on one occassion. The criteria is:

  • 70 years of age or over
  • Receiving a CentreLink Disability Support Pension or holding a Queensland Transport Disabled Parking Certificate, regardless of age
  • Able to provide other evidence, such as a medical certificate or letter from a general practitioner that they have a medical condition or disability that prevents them from using a bucket or watering can to water a garden area.

The additional day for odd numbered houses will be Tuesday between 4:00pm and 4:30pm. For even numbered houses it will be Wednesday also between 4:00pm and 4:30pm.
